The Cabinet, chaired by Lena De Winne, met again this week after a short summer break to discuss its current projects. The meeting began on a solemn note. Each Cabinet member noted that they considered the enactment of the Declaration of Independence of Asgardia to be an important event for the history and future development of the Space Nation.

The text of the Declaration of Independence, presented by the Head of the Space Nation Igor Ashurbeyli, was signed by the Chairman and members of the Supreme Space Council of Asgardia on 2 Libra 0008 (13 August 2024) at the 12th meeting of the Council.

In addition to the principles on which Asgardia bases its sovereignty, the Declaration contains an appeal to planet Earth states, a call for bilateral agreements on mutual recognition and further cooperation.

Foreign affairs, as one of Asgardia's 12 main focus areas, is a major task for the Government as well. The Asgardian Parliament is currently working on a core piece of legislation dealing with foreign affairs. The working group includes members of the Government. At the next sitting of the Parliament, the document is scheduled to be considered in the third reading.

During the discussion of the current affairs of the Government, the meeting participants supported the initiative of the head of the Ministry of Youth and Education. In September this year, Dan Profir intends to launch a pilot project of a new series of video podcasts, made similar to thematic open webinars, which are regularly organised by the Government.

Mr Profir proposes to expand the topics of the expert discussions beyond science or space law issues. The video podcasts will focus on philosophy, culture and education - topics that are no less important for the formation of a society capable of living and developing not only on its home planet.
